American Sail Training Association (ASTA) is a national 501c (3) non-profit organization based in Newport, that represents nearly 250 Tall Ships and Sail organizations around the country. The primary focus of our organization is teaching American youth the values of sailing and its impact on growing their character, learning team building, and developing leadership qualities.  ASTA also sponsors the annual "Tall Ships Challenge Series" that take place every year in host cities on the East Coast, West Coast, Great Lakes and soon the Caribbean.

Applied Radar Inc. is a research and development compnay focusing on the development of microwave radar and communications systms and based in the Quonset/Davisville Port and Commerce Park in North Kingstown, Rhode Island.

 

Bradford Dye and Finishing is a privately held textile finishing plant that was established in 1911. With more than 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space, Bradford Dye specializes in supplying fabrics to the military to meet government specifications. Currently, the company holds the honor of being the largest producer of battle dress uniform fabrics to the United States Department of Defense and the exclusive rights holder of several military camouflage print patterns. As a printer and finisher of fabrics, Bradford also serves law enforcement agencies, Homeland Security, and the hospital industry with its products.

The Children's Workshop is a successful child care provider in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts.  Founded in 1990, the Children's Workshop offers care to over 1,000 children in 12 different facilities throughout Rhode Island and they employ over 300 devoted professionals in early childhood development who are dedicated to delivering nurturing and high quality care to children. They also offer their staff competitive benefit packages and professional development opportunities to foster longevity and commitment.

CompuClaim is a small business based in Newport, Rhode Island, which manages medical data for healthcare providers and institutions.  Founded in 1992, CompuClaim provides medical billing and account management services, particularly regarding management of Medicaid billing for school-district special education departments. Their largest client base now includes more than 35 public school districts in New England, with 27 of those districts being from RI.  Compuclaim-RI has continually refined and upgraded school based Medicaid billing throughout the state.

Elstat Americas is an international beverage and electrical engineering/manufacturing company with more than 75 years of experience in both industries. Elstat may not as yet be a household name, but this UK-based company has already made a positive impact on the world. After introducing its pioneering energy management system in 2006 it has helped businesses save over 1.6BB kWh's of energy - equivalent to wiping out the carbon footprint of over 625,000 cars or planting roughly 1.5MM trees. Not surprisingly, sustainability is a core value of Elstat which runs throughout the company. Elstat's technology tackles this issue head-on and in the process addresses climate change. With offices in the UK, Hong Kong and Atlanta, Elstat is able to support global implementation programs for its customers around the globe. Manufacturing is located in China and Mexico, where roughly 20,000 units per week are produced and shipped to over 65 Original Equipment Manufacturers globally. The facility and the company are ISO 14001 certified.

ER Card is a women-owned organization, incorporated in 1999 in the State of Rhode Island. Its primary service offered is the ER Card, a personal medical information and record management service. This service gives doctors and caregivers access to all necessary medical history and information about the patient that is needed to provide the best possible health care.

John E. Fogarty Center is a private, nonprofit organization based in North Providence, Rhode Island that supports nearly 300 adults with developmental disabilities. The main facility in North Providence supports approximately 100 individuals daily, as does the Work Center in Johnston. The Picillo Community Center in North Providence supports approximately 50 older adults daily, as well as 54 infants, toddlers and pre-schoolers in the Alphabet Soup Childcare Program. The Fogarty Center also offers off-site services and living arrangements to adults with developmental disabilities throughout Rhode Island.  The residential program provides a broad array of living arrangements to approximately 125 adults who live independently, with their families, or reside in group homes. In many instances the Fogarty Center provides 24-hour staff coverage.  This support promotes independence and enhances the quality of life for individuals and their families. 

The Government Health Group of Rhode Island (GHGRI) is a collaborative health insurance purchasing group founded in 2004, consisting of the following communities with approximately 4800 members: Newport (city & school); Middletown (town & school); Portsmouth (town & school); Tiverton (town & school); Little Compton (town & school);  Bristol/Warren Regional Schools; Central Falls Schools; and Woonsocket Education Department.

Johnson & Wales University is a well respected institution of higher learning with campuses in Rhode Island, North Carolina, Florida and Colorado. Founded in 1914, the mission of Johnson & Wales University is to empower its diverse student body to succeed in today's dynamic world by integrating general education, professional skills and career-focused education. To this end, the university employs its faculty, services, curricula and facilities to equip students with the conceptual and practical tools required to become contributing members of society. The common thread throughout the university's 94-year history is that they not only prepare their graduates to launch and advance in their chosen careers, but also give them a full university experience that makes them more complete individuals. While educating for the sake of pure knowledge has traditionally been the approach in higher education, JWU has always recognized the importance of melding academics, hands-on training, relevant work experiences, leadership training and career development.

Middletown Economic Development Advisory Committee (MEDAC) was originally established in 1991 and was reorganized on April 7, 2003 by a Town Council resolution as the main economic development implementation and planning body for the Town. The MEDAC's mission is to foster and promote economic development by enhancing the Aquidneck Corporate Park's business capacity to assist in studying and promoting the growth of the defense-related industry on Aquidneck Island; and to assist in an education partnership for an Aquidneck Island School for Science and Technology.

Newport County Chamber of Commerce is one of Rhode Island's largest non-profit business advocacy organizations. The Chamber was founded to enhance the business, civic and economic vitality of Newport County and greater Rhode Island and strives to work on behalf of its members (and the community at large) to maintain and improve the region's extraordinary quality of life. By continuously looking for new ways to create innovative partnerships with the business community, state and local government, and a wide variety of education, cultural and social service organizations, the Chamber has grown to over 1200 members in the past decade. Innovative new programs and publications that benefit and promote Chamber membership have helped position the Chamber as a leader in economic development and community planning throughout Newport County and greater Rhode Island.

Brian O'Neill.  The company has developed and redeveloped over 13 million square feet of office, 700 apartments and 180 condos over the last 20+ years.  OPG is the region's leading privately-owned, real estate development company specializing in Brownfield redevelopment and is a nationally-recognized expert in Brownfield Redevelopment having worked on numerous EPA Superfund, NJDEP, and PADEP sites.  This company is a "Recycler and Revitalizer" of communities, transforming abandoned or underutilized industrial sites into high-quality, "Class A" commercial space or luxury multifamily "live, work, and play" communities, dedicated to creating user-friendly, aesthetically pleasing environments that represent the highest and best use of land for the community.

Plumbers and Pipefitters (Local 51) is a member of the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.  The organization was formed by the consolidation of four locals from Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts. Today, Local 51 is the fastest growing trade union in the region with a membership that is fully employed.  Local 51 is a recognized force in the labor community.

Rhode Island Association of Facilities and Services for the Aging (RIFSA) was founded in 1989 and represents the continuum of long term care providers in Rhode Island, including not-for-profit nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and senior housing providers, as well as adult day health centers.  The mission of the association is to advance excellence in the field by fostering innovation, collaboration, and ethical leadership; advocating for sound public policy; providing education, collaboration, and professional development; valuing older people and their right to make choices; and promoting a continuum of services.  RIAFSA is an affiliate of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging.

Rite Solutions is a team of information technology and management professionals who provide consultative services in gaming, system engineering, software intensive systems, information technologies, knowledge deployment, modeling and simulation, decision support systems, and program management.

The Saint Elizabeth Community is a non-profit, non-sectarian charitable organization that has been providing quality care to older adults and those with physical disabilities since its founding in 1882. With eight locations in Rhode Island, The Saint Elizabeth Community offers a full range of personalized services tailored to meet individuals’ medical, social, emotional and physical needs. Saint Elizabeth Community offers a continuum of care that includes independent apartments, adult day services, affordable assisted living, and skilled nursing and rehab care. Each person is treated with compassion and respect from qualified Saint Elizabeth Community professionals who treat them just like family.

Sheet Metal Workers Local 17 was formed in 1896 to ensure that men and women working in the sheet metal industry could bargain collectively for a good day’s pay with benefits for a good day’s work. Throughout the years, the union has taken the industry lead, negotiating contracts that have made its members the highest paid with the best benefit package of any sheet metal worker organization in all of New England.

Tall Ships Rhode Island is a highly regarded non-profit 501c 3, founded in 1992, that has effectively managed three world-class Tall Ships events in Rhode Island within the past 10 years. Tall Ships Rhode Island seeks to direct its collective expertise in experiential sail training and professional marine trades certificate programs, financial management and marketing, and organization-building skills; to reconfigure and complete the building of an ocean-going, historically-inspired vessel, The Oliver Hazard Perry; and to serve as a meaningful educational/professional training platform and cultural opportunity for Rhode Island's youth and for all citizens.

United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW or Local 328) is the result of the 1979 merger of the Retail Clerks and the Amalgamated Meat Cutters. Presently UFCW Local 328 represents approximately 12,000 members making us the largest local union in Southeastern New England. UFCW represents workers in retail food service, banking, transportation, manufacturing, health care, barbers & cosmetology and recycling.  Over the past five years, UFCW has continually worked to negotiate the best contracts in the core industry of retail food, and has developed an organizing mentality that has kept them negotiating "first contracts" for their newly organized workers. Through the continued commitment to both long-standing and newly organized members, UFCW Local 328 continues to adhere to its guiding vision. The union’s aggressive approach towards organizing new members, representing their interests and building political clout has established the UFCW as a leader in the organized labor movement.

Women & Infants Hospital of Rhode Island, a non-profit organization founded in 1884, is dedicated to maintaining and improving the health and well being of women and infants in Rhode Island and southeastern New England, regardless of ability to pay. Women & Infants offers a full range of women's health services including, but not limited to, treatment of cancers unique to women, internal medicine, urogynecology, treatment of infertility, behavioral medicine, obstetrics, gynecology, an infant development center, and a postpartum depression day hospital (the only one of its kind in the nation). Last year, in a state that has no public or charity hospital, Women & Infants provided close to $18 million in free and uncompensated care to those in need.
